Origin

The village is located at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, between Vougeot and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vines grow at an ideal altitude of approximately 250 metres and cover just over 150 ha.
The plot from which this cuvée comes is called “Les Vigneux”. It is located in the northern part of the village, in the extension of the valley on a gentle slope and near the Grand Cru Romanée-Saint-Vivant.

The grapes were handpicked. First sorting in the vineyard, second on the sorting table upon receipt of the harvest.
At the winery: 70% of grapes were destemmed but not crushed (they were left whole) and were gravity-fed into tanks. Maceration with 30% whole bunches lasted a total of 14 days including 4 days of cold maceration (12°C). Fermentation used indigenous yeasts only (no additives such as enzymes or tannins were used). Vinification without sulfur. 4 punchings of the cap.

Ageing

Maturation: aged on the lees for 10 months with no racking using a proportion of 33% new French oak barrels.
Barrels: French oak barrels that had been toasted at a very low temperatures for a long time to impart a very subtle and delicate touch of oak to the wine.

Bottling

Bottling: the wine was not fined but was very gently filtered before being bottled using gravity in September 2023.

Vintage

Abundance and excellence!
Despite the drought, we saw consistent volumes combined with quality. Almost no sorting was required as the grapes were superb. The winemaking process went smoothly. Perfect conditions offering the potential for some very fine wines.
Ageing potential: 10 years and more.

Tasting notes

With its brilliant garnet-red color, the wine reveals luscious aromas of strawberries, raspberries and slightly herbaceous notes of whole harvest. On the palate, structured yet silky tannins and woody flavors are evident. Great ageing potential!
