Origin

The rocky outcrops of Solutré and Vergisson, emblematic of these vineyards, remind us that from a height of five hundred metres, 200 million years of history is looking down on us ! Indeed, 20,000 years ago one of the most fully evolved prehistoric cultures flourished here.

Premier Cru appellation created in 2020, with new specifications. 194 ha premier cru over 800 ha of Pouilly-Fuissé. 22 classified climates. “Sur la Roche” is one of the plots which has been partly classified as Premier Cru, in the town of Vergisson. This climate is characterized by its altitude at 375 m and its slope at 15%.

Maturation: aged for 13 months with no racking or stirring to bring out all of this wine’s minerality. A proportion of 40% new French oak barrels.
Barrels: French oak barrels that had been toasted at low temperatures for a long time to impart a subtle, delicate touch of oak were used.

Bottling

Bottling in December 2022, the wine was very gently filtered before being bottled using gravity.
Number of bottles: 1,420 bottles.

Vintage

A complex vintage!
It is both a winegrower and winemaker’s vintage ! 2021 will unfortunately be remembered quantity-wise for a long time by its disastrous frost early april. Direct consequence: this is probably one of the smallest vintages ever in Burgundy . It offers a very nice and subtle representation of each terroir and its expression, with fruity, freshness and great finesse wines.
Ageing potential: from 6 to 8 years.

Tasting notes

With its beautiful pale yellow colour, this very charming wine develops intense aromas of white fruit and flowers enhanced by notes of exotic fruit. On the palate, the structure is chiselled with brioche and smoky flavours.
